19 February, 2024 Capital Tigers Meeting Details
Date: 19th February, 2024
Meeting started: 7:36pmPresent: Raylene Easton, Tony Allocca, Liam French, Cherie Roe, Paul Simper, Nick Staniforth
Apologies: Joey Fahey
Minutes from November 2023 meeting agreed -- moved Raylene, seconded Cherie.
Minutes from December 2023 were not presented -- Nick to follow up and bring draft December Minutes to March 2024 meeting
1. RFC communications
Raylene advised that an email had been received 'today' -- being 19 February -- with a revised set of Supporter Group Guidelines attached. Raylene had circulated this email to the committee.
A number of concerns were raised with elements of the new Guidelines. Committee members agreed to provide some comments to Raylene so that she could discuss with Marcus by 'phone.
The committee noted that we are to be provided with "Supporters Group Minimum Entitlements Package", comprising a $100 Roar Store voucher, signed AFL jumper and football, signed AFLW jumper and football. These should arrive early in the upcoming season.
Concerns raised at the meeting regarding the Guidelines included:
- that RFC now require all Minutes to be submitted to them;
- the annual contribution to be set at $5,000 as a compulsory amount (this is seen as highly unrealistic given the lack for any RFC presence in either Canberra or Sydney this season);
- a requirement for committee members to be RFC members;
- a generally overly prescriptinve approach to the activities of Supporters Groups.
2. Fundraising activities
Tipping comp
Liam advised that the iTipFooty app was 'good to go' for the 2024 AFL season, with some amendments to the 2023 rules due to changes in the 'home and away' fixture -- ie, the four game "Opening Round" and a number of eight game rounds across the season.
Liam to email info and a link to last year's participants. Nick to do a number of Facebook posts to encourage new participants and Raylene to email to our larger membership group.
RFC merch
We retain a number of 2023 season merchandise items -- especially a 2023 signed AFLW jumper that was received too late to be effectively used at the time. There was some discussion around options, including an early season raffle, possibly to be drawn in conjunction with the 'Dreamtime at the 'G'" game, and an eBay style auction.
Committee members agreed to consider options and discuss at the March meeting.
3. 2024 matchdays
We will try to arrange a Capital Tigers presence at Eastlake for all 2024 'home and away' games, including the 'Opening Round' game (v Gold Coast) on Saturday, 9 March 2024 (4:20pm). Nick to do a FB post.
Next meeting
Next meeting: Monday, 18 March at Eastlake FC, 7:30pm.
