General Meeting Minutes - April 2023

Previous Minutes: minutes of the previous meeting (March) were endorsed: moved by Tony and seconded by Liam.

Status updates on agenda items

Action: Raylene

Description: Raylene to work with Marcus to get our No: 10 jersey signed by Maurice Jnr. Should explore getting AFLW No 10 to also sign, but as at 21 March press release, no AFLW No 10 jumper given.

Status: Jumper sent to RFC. Still no No.10 AFLW jersey

Description: Maybe two BBQ's this year one in 29 April or 7 May and possibly end of the year.

Alison - Set up Facebook post

Status: Event posted 26 March and 17 April. Can now be updated with cost, times, etc (see below)

Tony - Ask Marcus to include in RFC email to Canberra-based members

Tony - Advise Marcus we are aiming for R21 (1st w/e in Aug, waiting on advice when fixture completed)

Facebook - Anything to report? Status: People are asked to 'share' Capital Tigers posts where possible, as this promotes our posts within the algorithm.

Website - Raylene was to have a chat with new member offering help to upgrade website. Status: ongoing

Fundraising - Bus Trip to Sydney GWS game, Our 10th anniversary, Bunning's BBQ x 2 -- as per above. Any further matters?

Major 2023 Raffle -- any updates?

2023 Tipping Comp -- any updates?

Status: 10th anniversary and Bunnings -- ongoing. GWS bus trip -- see below. Major raffle -- to be organised in conjunction with 10th anniversary event. Tipping comp -- a couple of tipsters are yet to pay their $50 -- Liam to work with Cherie on this.

Treasurer report - nil

Eastlake footy club - nil

Other business - Promo email received from Motely Hotel in Bridge Rd to advise opening and to sell its virtues as a place to stay for home games. Noted by committee.

[After meeting -- just had a look at their site and did a 'ghost' booking request. King room for one Saturday night is $289 for 2 adults, $345 if you include breakfast.]

GWS bus trip discussion:

BusCharter quote ($2940 for 33ppl) considered and rejected as too expensive. Quote has now lapsed in any event.

Further quote received from Coachhire - $1650 for 24ppl or $2200 for 33 ppl, can be secured with $165. Committee agreed this is a more reasonable price, and that we should go ahead with this one. (Copy of quote scanned and attached to the minutes)

Currently have 19 ppl saying they will go on the bus.

Agreed that we promote the trip with a starting price of $80 'but will probably be less' depending on final numbers. Departure time to be advertised as 8am so that trippers can go to pre-game function.

Raylene to contact Sydney supporters group to confirm pre-game function details and to see if we can get a couple of spots on the banner.
